Sister Rosetta Tharpe Illustration / Music Art Print
This is a print of my illustration of Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915-1973), a singer, songwriter & guitarist who is referred to as the "godmother of rock and roll." She was the first great recording star of gospel music. Also, due to her unique mix of spiritual lyrics & rhythmic accompaniment, she was one of the first gospel musicians to appeal to rhythm and blues and rock & roll audiences. She influenced early rock & roll musicians like Little Richard, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley & Jerry Lee Lewis.
Using photographs as reference, I illustrated this digitally using Adobe Photoshop and my trusty Wacom drawing tablet. I print it here at my home studio and it currently comes in three print sizes: 5 x 7 inch (12.7 x 17.8 cm), 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm) and 11 x 14 inches (27.9 x 35.6 cm). Every size is on bright white, medium weight paper.
This is the perfect small gift for the Sister Rosetta Tharpe fan, the rock and roll fan, or the person who just wants a piece of Black history art to put on their wall.
