Maya Lin Illustration / Women's History Art Print
This is a print of my illustration of Maya Lin, American architect and sculptor. In 1981, at the age of 21, she won a public design competition for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, beating over 1,000 other submissions. The graceful and abstract v-shaped granite memorial was originally seen as controversial because it was a non traditional design for a war memorial, but it has since become a popular and emotional draw for the public. More than 10,000 people view the memorial per day.
Using photographs as reference, I illustrated this digitally using Adobe Photoshop and my trusty Wacom drawing tablet. I print it here at my home studio and it currently comes in three print sizes: 5 x 7 inch (12.7 x 17.8 cm), 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm) and 11 x 14 inches (27.9 x 35.6 cm). Every size is on bright white, medium weight paper.
This is the perfect small gift for someone who is interested in architecture or a person who just wants a piece of American history art to put on their wall.
